Today was not only a day that we haven't seen before and one that we'll never see again, but this was also a day that the solar eclipse happened- something that I havent seen before, and will most likely not see again in my lifetime,
Today was the day for the Solar Eclipse (August 21, 2017)
Today I had the opportunity see some of the eclipse online from NASA's TV channel this morning. Since Seattle is partially in the "path of totality" as NASA calls it, this is what I actually saw outside without looking directly at the sun: the sky turned darker for about a good half hour or so at around 9:30 a.m. Pacific time. (You can check NASA.com for more details regarding their viewpoints on today's solar eclipse)
Of course at this time of day, you normally don't see what looks like the time would look like at around 6:30-7 pm - at 9:30 in the morning. To me, that was an amazing sight to see, as well as watching the moon overshadow the sun on livestream.
So there were some who were having posts such as "the sky shall unfold..." and "the sun shall run into darkness and the moon into blood..." etc., etc.
With this blog I will share my own viewpoints on what actually happened regarding the Solar Eclipse and what Bible declares WILL happen.
Joel chapter 2 verse 31 of the New King James Version says:
"The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the coming of the great and awesome day of the Lord."
Acts 2 verse 20 of he New King James Version says:
"The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the coming of the great and awesome day of the Lord."
Notice that neither of these verses stated that the MOON was going to COVER the sun... this is what happened with today's eclipse. It truly is an amazing thing to see, and God COVERED the SUN with the MOON.
Was the SUN turned into darkness?
Not yet.
THE MOON COVERED THE SUN. There was darkness because GOD caused the MOON to cover the SUN.
Did the moon turn into blood?
Not yet.
Again, the MOON COVERED THE SUN.
Where was the sun?
THE SUN STAYED IN ITS PLACE.
God caused the MOON to travel and COVER the sun.
According to NASA, the sun was traveling quite fast for this eclipse to take place, even we might have thought for it to be quite a slow process.
The only thing that MOVED between the sun and the moon, was the MOON. The MOON went away and the sun REMAINED IN ITS PLACE as the eclipse happened.
The sun didn't turn into darkness. At least not today. But God's Word declares that it will.
The moon did not turn into blood. At least not today. But God's Word declares that it will.
For now, let's just be reminded of the words from Charlie Wilson in one of his songs that he wrote:
"What an Amazon God You are..."
